How To Claim Tax Deduction Under Section 80g?
Donating towards charity and needy people is a very noble act. In order to encourage charitable contributions to improve the condition of people hailing from challenging socio-economic backgrounds, the Indian Government has made deductions available for donors under section 80G of Income-tax Act, 1961, who donate towards registered charitable organizations. What are the limitations under section 80G?
If you have made your donations to support NGOs by a cheque, cash or a draft, you are eligible to claim deductions u/s 80G. However, donation materials like clothes, medicines, etc. cannot be claimed as a tax deduction under section 80G. Also, Financial Year 2018 onwards, donations made in cash above ₹2000 are not allowed as deductions; which is why it is a good option for you to making online donations.
