Hyderabad is a fascinating city with a very rich history. Golconda Fort

It’s set just outside the city, has a history dating back to the 13th century when it was ruled by the Kakatiya dynasty and has been renovated by several other dynasties over the centuries. Inside this fort complex are palace and mosque ruins, a scenic hilltop pavilion, cannons, drawbridges, gateways and bastions.

Charminar

Charminar is a symbolic landmark of Hyderabad, closely associated with the city’s past. The majestic monument and mosque is located in the heart of the Old City of Hyderabad and was completed back in 1591 CE by Mohammed Quli Qutb Shahi, the fifth sultan of the Qutub Shahi with traditional Islamic architecture, featuring towers, domes, arches and minarets, plus an intricate floral design throughout.

Birla Mandir

Discover the Birla Mandir, a glistening Hindu temple located atop a lush hillock and dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This stunning complex was built in 1976 with nearly 2000 tonnes of white marble from Rajasthan, featuring South Indian and Utkal architectural styles. Inside the temple is an 11ft tall statue of Lord Lakshminarayana and a series of shrines for other important Hindu deities. The Birla Mandir is a particularly impressive site in the evening when it’s illuminated.

Toli Masjid

The Toli Masjid is a striking mosque that dates back over 300 years. This historic structure is architecturally impressive with stone carvings, arches decorated with intricate patterns and towering minarets. The Toli Masjid could be seen as a hidden gem of Hyderabad, relatively unexplored by visitors.
