How Traveling In Old Age Is A Great Idea
If you are born and have grown old in India, you must have it ingrained in your mind that you must have savings for the future. You must love yourself right now and start living in the present because the future you always thought about is now. When your kids are settled in their career, don’t wait for them to get married, have kids, and do whatever ideas you have in mind. Don’t wait for the so called future to arrive when you will start enjoying, do it here and now. If you are one of those people who were lucky with their investments and have accumulated a good amount in your old age, you must shed the guilt of spending some money on yourself.
Travel is great for mental health
When you are out of your comfort zone, your mind challenges you to adapt to the new surroundings and people, and you do not have any choice but to do it. It is a healthy practice to do new things when you start thinking that you have already learned a lot in life. Travel makes you realize that you are yet to become a better human being because you still have a lot to learn. Even if it ...
... is driving on a different side of the road, it is a significant challenge for you because you have never done that. Travel makes you humble in that sense.
Travel makes you meet new people
Just like the young people are enthusiastic about meeting new people, it is an equally exciting avenue for the older generation as well. The younger generation seeks to gain knowledge from the older generation in different countries, and you are that class of society who can share their life experiences with wisdom. And the youth can teach you new trends and technology. Isn’t it a win-win situation?
Less pressure in old age
When you are young, you have to rush home soon from your vacation because you have career, family, and kids waiting for you, but there is no such societal pressure when you have crossed those milestones. If you have already retired, you are a free bird who can return home whenever you want.
You don’t have to overpay
When you travel with kids during their summer break, everything becomes over-expensive. You have to pay double the price for hotels in the hills of Himachal Pradesh, the cost of Car Rental in Chandigarh is super-high, and the queues in the restaurants and water parks are never-ending. Who wants to experience such misery when on a vacation? And since your kids are independent when you are old, you can travel for yourself whenever you want without the extra baggage of kids.
Not all older couples or individuals are rich, but you do have a decent savings that you can spend on yourself without guilt. Don’t lie to yourself and go on a vacation that you always dreamt about.
