Sometimes buyer get confused seeing so many sd card on the counter. Even get so confused which one to buy for their required devices. As so many different SD cards out there its becoming quite tough for the purchasers to differentiate them. There's different brands who use different terms, and now there are different types such as plain SD, mini SD, micro SD, and recently SDHC. And in all this its becoming quite confusing to figure out what everything means. In short we will try to understand each and every concept of sd card types. In generla terms SD stands for Secure Digital. You can also count it as just another flash memory card. Now the sd card has become the standard storage unit for many smaller gadgets like point-and-shoot cameras, cell phones, and PDAs. As per my own usage i have three devices which need an sd card of varied type. And out of these some require large amounts of storage and read-write ability.

Also I've a 10 megapixel Digital SLR, 5 megapixel Point and shoot, and an R4 for my Nintendo DS Lite. Not only this I currently have 2 2GB cards for my DSLR, and I'm looking for a 4-8GB SDHC now so that ...
... can take more pictures, and write faster. On these sd card varied types and usages will like to share my experiences. First of all, will start off with plain old Secure Digital cards. All these sorts of cards range from about 16MB all the way to 2GB. No doubt, there are various brands out there. But Sandisk being the most popular and quite expensive, then comes Kingston, OCZ, PNY, and Transcend. Now the most important fact associated with the sd card is that many companies go by the same rating system, where they use the "x" (times), but nobody knows what it means? And also Sandisk uses a Standard, Ultra II, Extreme III, and even Extreme IV in certain cases of Compact Flash for their ratings. But question is that what this actually means in terms I understand - MB/s. Such things needed to get clarified from both ends that is from the buyer and retailer. Unless not clarified such things related to sd card its quite tough to avail best benefits out of these sd cards.
