One-day Trip From Delhi To Agra – The Land Of Mughals

Agra is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India with an abundance of historical monuments that date back to the 16th century. It has a rich Mughal heritage that is reflected in its world-renowned monuments. Agra is the perfect destination for tourists who want to relive the history in its finest form.
The best way to visit Agra from Delhi is by hiring a cab. A trip to Agra can be completed within a day but if you want to stay for longer, there are many tourist-friendly hotels in the city.
Early Morning Travel by Cab (5 AM to 9 AM)
Start your journey early in the morning, preferably at dusk (5 AM) to avoid the peak hour traffic of Delhi. It is best to instruct the driver to take the 6-lane Taj Expressway for a convenient travelling experience. You will encounter a few toll gates en route but you will also avoid the heavy traffic that is common on other highways. There are many eateries on the way from where you can have your breakfast. It will take you around 4-5 hours to reach Agra, but if you avoid pit stops you can reach their within 4 hours.

After reaching Agra at around 9 AM, it is best to first visit the TajMahal. The charges for entry are different for Indian and foreign tourists. But, for children under the age of 15, the entry is free. Be mindful that the Taj is closed on Friday, so plan your visit on any other day of the week. Explore this beautiful monument at your own pace. You can also hire a tourist guide to make your experience more enriching. After visiting the Taj, you can check into a hotel if you are planning to stay for more than a day as check-in times generally start from 11 AM.

Visit Agra Fort (11:30 AM to 1 PM)
Agra fort is another fascinating tourist destination in Agra. It has been used by many Mughal emperors as their place of residence. Sprawled over an area of 380,000 square meters, it has massive walls that are nearly 70-feet high. There are many famous gates in Agra fort like the Lahore gate and the awe-inspiring Delhi gate. Agra fort is filled with many fascinating pieces of history that a history buff would truly relish.
Lunch (1.30 PM to 2.30 PM)
Agra is famous for its street food, so you can explore nearby areas for local favorites. But, if you want to have a high-class experience and treat your taste buds to royal Mughal food, then you should head to Restaurant at Trident, Agra.
MehtabBagh (3 PM to 4 PM)
After having your lunch, you should make your way to MehtabBagh, which is one of most beautiful gardens in Agra. It has a total area of 90, 000 square meters that is filled with beautiful flowers and alluring constructions from the Mughal era. The garden is a sight to behold and has gorgeous pavilions, white plaster walkways, pools andsplendid fountains.
Shopping (4.30 PM to 6 PM)
After visiting the garden, you can shop for trinkets or clothes in the famous Agra markets. These markets are perfect for people who love to bargain. With good shopping skills, you can buy unique items at affordable prices.

Leave for Delhi (6 PM to 10 PM)
After completing the one-day tour, you can either decide to leave for Delhi or stay for another day to explore the city even more. For tourists who would like to leave the next day, there is the option to visit religious places like Mathura and Vrindavan on the way back.
