These days people are more active in the digital world rather in real life, digital marketing allows making space of your brand in that digital world. You may have seen big billboards that grab your attention and if you are a potential customer, that ad will revolve in your head.
Similarly, in digital marketing people are targeted and converted into potential customers. However, there is a huge difference in both the process. Here you can choose a bunch of people to target; you have a filter like age, demography, and income-level. In the traditional process, everyone will see your advertisement but in digital marketing, ads will be shown to only potential customers. Even a small activity like signing up for the newsletter on your site is a great signal of your progress. Now how you identify these potential people, for that you need an AdWords expert.

Steps to become a digital marketing expert-
Invest in a quality PC
Digital marketing involves a lot of things, from writing a long content to website optimization. When you will start tutorials, you will learn and implement things, so first invest in a good quality computer or laptop.
Many people prefer doing their work from their smartphones but when it comes to writing long content, you are less likely to do it from your phone.
Read / watch tutorials online
Pack your bags for the long journey. There is a lot of things to learn in digital marketing. If you go online to learn things, there is a lot of material available there for free.
Start with the basics and make notes separately for different topics- Social media marketing, SEO, PPC, etc.
Start with social media marketing because it will give you insights on digital marketing strategies and ways of targeting on social media.  When you feel you have covered enough of basics, you can jump to the paid version.
Learn and implement
If you want to implement your knowledge, start with SEO. Create content and SEO optimization. You can create your site on Wordpress or use a blogger for the sake of just starting the process.
Register your domain name and try to buy .com domain that would be more practical. Start writing on more popular keywords, this will also bring organic traffic to your site.
Verify your site with Bing webmaster and Google search Console
As you create your website, start writing on it with some optimization. Now is the time to verify it from Google search console.  Your site is ready for ranking after verification as Google bot crawl will index pages of your site.
Go to Google analytics
After doing all this hard work, you must be curious about-

how your site is performing
how many visitors does your site have
demography of visitors

To know all this, you need to sign up for Google analytics. You can track the performance of your site on Google analytics but before that, you must learn about it before getting started.
Set up social media accounts
Once you acquired knowledge on SEO and content writing, set up accounts on- Facebook, Instagram, YouTube (if you have video content), etc. Set up pages, similar to your blog’s niche, and link your blog on social media sites.
These were the small steps that you can take to kick start your learning in the digital marketing field. There are many other things to learn, you need to dedicate 3 to 4 hours for this task.  If you face any difficulty in acquiring knowledge by yourself, you can look for classes in your location.
