CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) errors with specific file generally indicate bad spots on the hard drive, precisely at the hard drive space where file is located. Similar errors are observed when an Outlook user attempts to copy or move the PST file from its original location. Thus, to recover e-mails in such situations, one should try to repair the hard drive before performing any PST File Repair operation.

Let's take an example to comprehend such problems. For some reasons, you need to transfer all the data from your computer to another. Consequently, when you try to copy and transfer the Microsoft Outlook PST file, the operation cannot succeed. Further, an error pops up that reads:

File file_path\file_name.pst could not be accessed. Data error. Cyclic redundancy check.

Where, file_path and file_name refer to full path and name of Outlook PST file respectively.

Cause

As mentioned, CRC errors generally appear due to location specific problems. Either the root drive or the target drive is affected by errors.

The same error can occur if the Outlook PST you are trying to transfer is ...
... corrupted.

Solution

You need to consider the below mentioned measures to solve the given problem:

1)Make sure that the target location is not problematic. For this, you can try to copy the PST to NUL. To do so, open the command prompt, go to original PST location, and use 'copy' command to copy the file to NUL. If it copies successfully, you need to replace or repair the destination drive.
2)If the issue is related to the original drive itself, you should repair it. To do so, click Start | Run and run 'chkdsk' command with '/f 'switch.
3)If the original PST is corrupted, run 'Scanpst.exe' to repair the file. You can use a third-party PST Repair tool in case Scanpst cannot fix the file corruption.

PST File Repair software are easy-to-use that repair a corrupted PST and restore its data in original format and view. Also, the software are safe to install.
