Basic Makeup For Beginners
Apply on the eyes, cheeks, lips - it may seem as though applying make-up is a quick and simple step. However, you should not merely apply the make-up. Putting on make-up is more than that. You must understand the form of your face and how to accentuate your best features.
Make-up works differently for different people. What may look good on others may not necessarily look good on you. Here’s a quick and easy guide to know which look works well on you, and which doesn’t.
For Your Face
Before putting on layers of make-up, you need to apply moisturiser first. Moisturiser is the most important step as it keeps your face fresh and hydrated. Next, apply the foundation. Make sure the shade of your foundation is closest to your skin colour. Do a swatch test. Swatch a small amount of foundation from the chin to your neck.
A common mistake many beginners do is swatching in the arm. You have to remember that the colour of your arm is different from the colour of your face. Best to swatch near where you are applying the foundation.
For Your Cheeks
A good cheek blush will help brighten your ...
... face. However, if you make a mistake on where to place your blush, you can easily look tired and old. The trick is to find the apple of your cheeks. Once you find your cheeks, lightly apply your blush. Do not go overboard right away. You can build up the colour. It is best that you place a small amount rather than having dark blush right off the bat.
For Your Eyes
One of the most important features of your face is the eyes (and your brows). For beginners, you can use a powder to fill in your brows. Some may think that the brow pencil is the best option but this may take a longer time to correct. Using powders in filling your brows will not be as intimidating since you can easily correct (or erase it) in case you make a mistake.
Aside from your brows, you also need to focus on your eye shadow. How you apply your eyeshadow differs depending on the fold of your eyelids. If you have a mono-lid (a common for most Asians), a heavy smokey eye may not work for you. Also, the market today has different shades of eye shadow available. For daily use, opt for neutral and nude shades. For special occasions, you can go for bolder colours.
Finally, for the eyes, never forget using mascara. Mascara will make a huge difference in how your eyes look. Your mascara will give your lashes that full volume.
For Your Lips
A lipstick completes the look. No make-up starter kit is ever complete without your go-to trusted lipstick. Look for shades that would complement your face and skin colour well. Some people can carry wearing red lipstick any time of the day, while others not so much. For beginners, it is best if you keep two colours in your make-up kit, a nude one, and a bold colour.
With two different shades of lipstick in your make-up kit, you can change your look from day to night easily.
These are just the basic guidelines for makeup. There are plenty more that you need to know. However, if you have no time learning all these, you can seek help at U Stunner.
