In many cases, when you go for a normal checkup, you will hear the doctor telling you that the blood tests look normal. This is regardless of some signs and symptoms that you could be feeling. The doctor's answer that you look normal may not be satisfactory. It is so unfortunately; the health system fails to put enough resources that can help in preventing the disease occurrence. There are doctors that do not go beyond patient treatment and testing. It would be really important if a doctor, having been trusted by the patient, can go a step further in ensuring that the patient is not only well but is also leading a healthy lifestyle.

Labwork365 recommends that undergoing blood tests every year is important as it is a sure way of detecting any abnormal thing in the body. Below are some of the most common blood tests that you should undergo each year.

1. Essential nutrients

Iron, magnesium, vitamin D and B12 plays an important role in the functions of the body. There are many people who are deficient in these important elements due to various reasons. It is important ...
... that you get checked the levels of these nutrients and if they are not optimal. Seek to supplement them. The normal range for most of these nutrients is 30-100 nmol/l. In case you have other body disorders, like lower extremity function, dental health, admission to nursing homes, fractures, etc., the optimal levels are considered to be around 75 nmol/l.

2. Complete metabolic panel and blood count

These two tests are mandatory at every yearly checkup. They offer a lot of information regarding the health of your body. Through these tests, you are able to know if you are fighting any chronic infections, anemia or even clotting issues.

Looking at the enzyme levels, they may be considered as normal range but your doctor is able to tell you if there is any detoxification or inflammation of the liver. In case of any condition, the doctors are able to rectify it in its early stages. Studies have shown that the upper lab limit should be lowered in order to detect liver inflammation early enough.

3. Metabolic markers

These include the hemoglobin, lipid panel, as well as the fasting glucose & insulin. These markers play an important role in processing the macronutrients that they eat. The lipid panel and the glucose level should be checked yearly and you may also be lucky to get the hemoglobin test. If you are at a high risk of contracting heart disease, it is recommended that you undergo an extensive lipid panel in order to determine if cholesterol levels are increasing the risk of getting a heart disease.

The Hba1c measures glucose levels and it is an oxidation marker in the body. If you have high glucose levels, there will be oxidation or the body proteins will be damaged. An increase in the levels of any of the markers means that the body is not processing them properly. This, in turn, means that there will be high-risk contracting heart diseases, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, etc.

4. Inflammatory markers

These include hsCRP, homocysteine. These markers are never checked at a routine health checkup. hsCRP indicates the general body inflammatory status any fluctuation in its levels would mean risk in cardiac events as well as depression. An increase in its levels means that there are inflammatory happenings in the body that should be addressed immediately.

Homocysteine requires the use of methylated-vitamin B12 as well as folate to be cleared. An increase in its levels may mean a number of things. For instance, it may mean that there is a risk stroke, heart disease risks, vitamin B status, etc.

It is important that the inflammatory markers get into optimal range by supplementing with the Methyl-B vitamins.
