Data loss is one of the most common problems computer users face. Whether it's a treasured family photo album or an important document for work, it's never a good feeling to empty the recycle bin or format a drive before you find out moments too late something important got deleted. In the business world, data loss incidents can cost a fortune, potentially resulting in a company closing its doors for good. There's also a lot of things which can go wrong and lead to data loss. Malicious software attacks are a common problem for both businesses and individuals. Accidental deletion is also a possibility. On top of that, any hardware can fail, sometimes without any notice. There's no such thing as a fool-proof system, but you can mitigate the risks by keeping in the habit of backing up your data regularly. If it turns out that you don't have a recent backup, then there's still another possibility to get back what you've lost: data recovery software.

Active@ Uneraser offers the means to recover deleted files even after they have been removed from the recycle bin. You can also use it to recover data from formatted drives ...
... and deleted partitions. This might sound impossible - after all, you usually receive a warning before emptying the recycle bin or formatting a drive that any files within will be permanently deleted. That's not actually the case. When files are deleted, the only thing that changes initially is the information about that file in the file system. This gets deleted from the file system database, and the space previously occupied by the deleted file is made available to the operating system. The same happens when you delete a partition, in which case the entire file system will be deleted, along with the master file table. The actual data itself stays intact until it gets overwritten. Active@ Uneraser was built to exploit this opportunity and recover data quickly.

Active@ Uneraser works with all types of writable storage media, including hard drives, solid-state drives, USB drives, memory cards, digital cameras, and any other external or internal device. It uses file signatures to help you search for files of certain types, which is useful since the original file name and location will be lost. This way, you can simply choose the type of file you're looking for or specify individual extensions if you remember the exact filetype. Active@ Uneraser supports many different file systems, including those supported natively by Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems. It also works with 32-bit and 64-bit machines, including those running old operating systems like Windows 2000 and XP. This makes it ideal for getting back long-lost data from old hard drives or computers. It also provides the means to undelete and repair damaged partitions, get back data from formatted internal or external drives, and much more.

Version 14 of Active@ Uneraser, released in October 2019 features improved recovery on NTFS volumes in Windows Storage Spaces and drives with 4 KB sector sizes. It also has an improved recovery kernel, and support for two new file signatures has been added - MUSX and CR3. Ultimate version users will have the latest version of Active@ Boot Disk as well.
