Unlike reptiles, member skin shedding is not a part of the natural cycle. Instead, it is the result of some sort of action or non-action that is causing skin peeling on the male organ that is neither liberating nor enjoyable. However, most causes of member skin shedding are not too serious and can be cleared up quickly. Let’s talk about five of the most common reasons for member skin shedding and how to take that flaky, peeling skin and turn it into smooth, soft, and supple skin.

Member Skin Shedding Reason #1: Friction Burn

Skin is made to be touched, but it isn’t made to be rubbed raw. This can happen for lots of reasons, but the skin in this particular area usually gets friction burn from too much or too rough sensual contact either with a partner or solo. It can also happen as a result of too little creme or skivvies that are too tight as well.

Always use a lubricant during mutual pleasure and self-pleasure to reduce the chance of friction burn and the likelihood of skin peeling on the male organ. Wear loose cotton undies to prevent chafing.

Treat it: Wash, rinse, and moisturize ...
... the member thoroughly. Give it some time in the open air (not at the park or anything, just at home). You’ll find that not only does it speed healing, but it also helps with the burn and discomfort.

Member Skin Shedding Reason #2: Contact Dermatitis

An allergic reaction, or contact dermatitis for those fluent in GoogleMD, is the skin’s adverse reaction to an irritant or allergen. The most common allergens for the genital area are latex latex barriers, creme, laundry detergents, soap, lotion, and shower gel. A lover's fragrance or body lotion can also produce an allergic reaction that causes member skin to peel.

Also, be on the watch for:

- Redness

- Itching

- Pain

- Rash

- Dry Skin

- Swelling

Treat it: Thoroughly cleanse and rinse the member, once or more each day. Take Benadryl to deal with pain and use a cortisone cream to bring the reaction down faster. It the reaction worsens or doesn’t seem to be improving within a few days, see the doctor.

Member Skin Shedding Reason #3: Yeast Infection

A Candida infection, also known as a yeast infection, can trigger skin peeling on the male organ. While some yeast in the body is a totally normal thing, an overgrowth can result in a yeast infection.

Secondary symptoms to look for:

- A grayish-white, lumpy discharge that smells vinegary or overly sweet

- Pain when urinating or during intimacy

- Frequent urge to urinate

- Swelling

- Redness and irritation

- Itching

Treat it: For a first yeast infection, head to the doctor for an exam and a prescription. If it’s not your first rodeo, ask your doc to call in a script or pick up a box of Monistat. Avoid intimacy until the yeast infection is totally gone; they are really contagious!

Member Skin Shedding Reason #4: Balanitis

Balanitis is a condition that most commonly happens as a result of poor hygiene. It is an uncomfortable inflammation of the head of the member and foreskin. It’ll often cause skin peeling on the male organ.

Other symptoms to watch for:

- Fluid accumulation in the infected area

- Scaly sores

- A foul, sour odor

- Itchiness

- Pain and heat

- Painful urination

Treat it: Thoroughly wash, rinse, and air dry the member religiously, and it will clear up within a week. Take ibuprofen to help with the pain. If it doesn’t clear up after seven days, make a doctor’s appointment.

Member Skin Shedding Reason #5: Herpes

Genital herpes affects one in eight people in the United States. Symptoms can be inconspicuous, so many people can miss the signs. In addition to member skin shedding, be on the lookout for:

- Sores in the reproductive area including the inner thighs and the buttocks

- Peeling after a sore bursts

- Itching

- Pain

- Flu-like symptoms

Treat it: Get to the doctor or clinic for a test and diagnosis. Be sure to refrain from sensual activity until given the all-clear. Since herpes is a chronic condition, always use protection and let partners know your status before engaging in any intimate activity.

Member Skin Shedding Prevention

Prevent skin peeling on the male organ with a male organ health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which has been clinically proven safe and mild for skin) that heals and soothes damaged genital skin. Crèmes like this includes skin soothers like vitamin E and Shea butter to return a man’s skin to softness and suppleness. It also has vitamin C for tone and elasticity. Using a crème like this daily will keep skin in fine form.
