Celebrity Marketing In The Media

There are so many ways these days for companies to get word of their product, event or service out there that some of the most basic means have actually been forgotten. Sure, you can Tweet your heart out, and for those that are actually paying attention, you'll do a pretty good job of keeping them informed about the latest news and any special offers. This is an example of one very trendy way to advertise for free, and yet it is very much one that requires the audience will seek you out, or at the very least, happen upon you as a result of having sought something/someone else out. Clearly, there are better ways.
In order to be heard and noticed, it helps to have a voice and image that is easily recognized by your target audience. One such way to do so is through celebrity marketing. Using a celebrity to serve as a spokesperson means that anyone who encounters your message by accident has a much higher likelihood of not just of recognizing the talent, but of paying attention. The power of celebrity is not a recent phenomena- it can be seen all throughout history. There have always been a class of people who were ...
... looked up to, listened to, and payed closer attention to as a general rule. Once upon a time that might have been royalty, or the upper class, but in a large segment of American society today, it is celebrity.
A common mistake that many people make when first starting out is to think as big as possible, and while it might be nice to have a really big name celebrity as your spokesperson, the reality is that the most beneficial relationships come about when both parties have the same interests. After all, a spokesperson who has no reason to care about your product, event, or service really won't be the most convincing of spokespersons- in fact, they will probably seem to have been hired to advertise for you. What you want is someone who actually has a vested interest in some part of what you're doing- this makes them a more reputable person to listen to and so will be taken more seriously.
In terms of this entire process, it is best to work with a professional company to set you up with your spokesperson. Such a company will help you line up your priorities and needs and evaluate who the best options might be for a celebrity spokesperson. From there, they do the negotiations. Having such an agency also comes in handy when it comes to setting up media tours of any kinds.
