Evaporation is the process where a substance in a liquid state changes to a gaseous state due to increased temperature and/or pressure. Evaporation is the guiding principle of the water cycle and is constantly happening throughout nature.

It is due to evaporation that water changes to a gas or water vapor. Evaporation is directly related to the temperature gradient.

To have effective evaporation the surrounding gas must not be fully saturated with the evaporating substance. Evaporative cooling is one of the most energy-efficient and cost-effective forms of cooling.

There are two types of evaporative cooling systems:

Direct Evaporative Cooling System: It is simple and most popular as of today. In this process, the water is cooled directly giving a cooling effect. Here a large High RPM fan allows hot air through a dampened sponge-like pad and distributes the cooled air obtained, to the inside of your bedroom or offices either directly or through ducts -- windows and/or ventilators should be left open to allow the cool air to circulate.

One ...
... of the best examples of this: is water getting cooled in an earthen pitcher during hot summer days. This process is also used in the production of Salt from seawater; by allowing seawater to evaporate over long periods of time.

Moreover, the evaporative cooling ventilation system provides fresh air to buildings; forcing the hot, stale air out -- the hotter and drier the air, the greater the cooling effect.

Equipment cost used for cooling is of a fraction to the price of a refrigerator. Direct Evaporative Cooling Units are Environment-friendly since the operate bereft of CFCs. Direct evaporative cooling can be used as a. economical alternative for air conditioning, in certain climates.

Indirect Evaporative Cooling Systems: It works similar to direct evaporative cooling systems, i.e. lowering air temperature by causing water to evaporate; except that a heat exchanger is used to cool the air supplied to space. The evaporative cooling cycle taking place in the heat exchanger.

Indirect evaporative cooling provides cool air to interior spaces with less humidity as compared to direct evaporative cooling, but is more costly as a couple of fans are used for the process, increasing the electricity cost.

Many devices have been made combining both the indirect and direct evaporating cooling systems.

A two stage evaporative cooling system (aka an Indirect/Direct" cooling) represents the most advanced cooling system of the present day, utilizing the features of both the evaporative cooling technologies. Though this cooling option is very energy efficient than cooling with refrigerant (standard air conditioning), it's not suitable for all cooling conditions.

One such device which is the hybrid of both the above-mentioned processes and Manufactured by A.T.E. Enterprises Private Limited is HMX-Ambiator

This is the next generation Indirect/Direct Evaporative Cooling (IDEC) solution for industrial and commercial spaces. Also, commonly known as two-stage evaporative cooling, it is an upgrade over conventional air cooling systems with 4-5°C better cooling and is up to 60% less moisture addition. The HMX-Ambiator is also an energy-efficient alternative to air conditioning consuming up to 60% less energy.

For more than 15 years, HMX has provided effective, reliable and cost-effective cooling solutions for varied industries around the country. As of today, with over 60 million CFM all over India – HMX has the world’s largest installed base of indirect evaporative cooling. HMX’s products minimize the use of refrigerants and energy-intensive compressors to supply cool air.

Conclusion: If you are living near the equator or at places that are hot, you can use HMX products to get maximum comforts.
