Who doesn’t like exotic indoor cactus plants that come in unique shapes and colours and blossom such beautiful pink or red flowers? If you want a few succulents in your indoors too, it is very easy to order them online and they will be delivered right to your doorsteps well within the committed timeframe. But whether you already have them or are planning to buy, here are a few tips for taking care for your exotic cactus plant to ensure their longevity and healthy growth.

Are They Getting Ample Light?

Succulents or cacti come from desert and they need a lot of sunlight for healthy growth and survival. So even if your cactus plant is placed indoors, it needs at least 6 hours of light so it is recommended you place them close to windows for convenience.

Is The Soil Optimal for Your Cactus?

Cactus needs draining soil or sand that doesn’t retain a lot of water. Keep in mind water is the biggest enemy of a succulent and the easiest way to kill a cactus is over-watering it. So if the soil is rich in moisture, ...
... it is the first thing you do not want for a healthy cactus. When you place your cactus in a pot, make sure the pot or the container is well drained and there is a plate or water collector below the container to ensure it doesn’t ruin your interiors.

Watering Your Cactus

The initial phase may ask for watering well but once the roots start establishing in the new soil, you do not need to water your cactus frequently. Always ensure the soil is dry when you water it, otherwise you are over-watering.

Do They Need Fertilizers?

Fertilizers basically make irrigation easier by promoting water absorbency of the plant. Hence, cactus or succulents do not need fertilizers mostly. Although, desert cactus need some specialized cactus fertilizer during the growing season, forest cactus can do well with the standard fertilizers but they do not need them during growing season.

What Is the Flowering Cycle of a Cactus?

Cactus has varied bloom cycles and all flowers range from yellow, pink and red colours. Most cactus plants get a shoot growth from the middle and then the flower blossoms at the top of the shoot.

Temperature and Humidity

Exotic quality indoor cactus plants desire hot and dry temperature. Forest cactus, on the other hand are stronger plants and can bear varied temperature range.
