How To Properly Maintain Your Electric Mower
Electric lawn mowers have become very popular for a lot of lawn carers and garden hobbyists, and it's not surprising to see why. If you compare them with gas-powered mowers, they are far easier to maintain. Also, they are much quieter and cleaner for your surroundings since they don't produce any exhausts. But it's a mistake to think you're free from doing any maintenance checks on your electric mower. Being electric doesn't mean that these mowers are exempt from the occasional malfunctions or break-downs. You need to form the habit of conducting preventative maintenance on your garden tool from time-to-time. Like what medical experts always say: Prevention is better than cure. So let's discuss these maintenance tips for you to take care good care of your lawn mower.
1. Battery maintenance
Batteries are the only sources of power for electric mowers. They are also quite expensive to buy and replace. That is why it's critical to properly care for it.
Go through the mower's user guide and review the battery care and maintenance sections.

... When you're storing the mower for a prolonged period, always remove the battery.
Ensure you fully charge the battery first if you didn't use the mower for some time.
2. Proper mower storage
Always store your mower indoors after using it even if you use it daily. This will help extend its life. Rain, sun and humidity will slowly eat their way through the parts of the mower no matter how durable its construction is. A lot of electric mowers have foldable handles, which makes them more easy to store in compact spaces.
3. Blade sharpening
Spring is usually the season dedicated to mowing. However, before you hack away overgrown grass, you need to check the blades first. The cutting power of your mower can be lessened by a dull blade. If it takes more time than normal to mow your yard, then it's time to sharpen the blades. To do this, tip the mower on its side and remove the blades to sharpen them. Make sure that you wear safety gloves when doing this. If you are uncomfortable doing this by yourself, it's best to seek professional help.
4. Clean out the deck
Every time you use your mower, a great deal of debris and grass may accumulate inside the deck. This clogs your system and can build-up over time. To clean the deck, you need to ensure that your mower is off first. Then turn your mower to its side and check how filthy the deck is. You need to be able to clean out the majority of the residue and debris from the deck with a leaf blower or a garden hose. You can use a wire brush to clean the deck if there is a significant build-up (while wearing thick, safety gloves).
5. Check for any loose components
Lawn mowers generate substantial amounts of vibration every time they operate. Over time, some of the parts and fasteners can loosen up. If you are taking your mower out, you should check its parts first. Be sure they are all tight and secure. Use a suitable tool if you encounter any loose components and tighten them up.
We've covered some fundamental maintenance tips for your electric mowers in this article. Want more information? You can find resources and numerous articles for electric lawn mowers online.
