Muktinath temple located at Mustang District of Nepal is perhaps one of the most famous pilgrimage destinations for Hindus all over the world other than Pashupati Nath and Mansarovar. This ancient temple located at the foothills of the Himalayas is rich in history besides having one of the most stunning panoramic backdrops. Lord Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu are the three basic pillars of the Hindu religion, so it is imperative that Muktinath will have magnanimous importance for the followers of the faith.

1. muktinath yatra
is often also considered as a learning experience for the devotees of Hindu Faith due to the enormous history and cultural significance. Lord Vishnu is said to have attained salvation here in this very spot from the curse of Brinda, the enraged wife of Jalandar. Also called as Mukti-peetha, this temple is believed to free or liberate one from their attachments and greed.
2. Muktinath ...
... is the 106th of the 108 ‘Divya Desam’ located all over the world. Meaning it is one of the only premium Vishnu temples among the 108. While 105 are located in India, only 1 is in Nepal and that is Muktinath, while the other 2 is believed to be a part of the outer realm.
3. Muktinath temple is the home to Shaligram Shila or the naturally formed ammonite peak that is the ancient representation of Lord Vishnu. Smaller pebble-sized Shaligram are often found on the bank of River Gandaki, which many Hindus take home to worship. It is one of the only 8 Vishnu shrines with naturally formed Vishnu Lingam. 4. Muktinath is also one of the 51 only ‘Siddhpeetha’ or ‘Shakti Peetha’ – Meaning that this is one of those places where Shakti mata’s body part had fallen as Lord Shiva was carrying Sati Devi. Goddess Sati’s forehead is believed to have fallen here. Each Shakti peetha has a unique symbolization and comprises of a Sakti Shrine and a Bhairav Shrine at the same spot. The shrines of Muktinath are called as Gandaki Chandi and Chakrapani.
5. Muktinath Temple Complex is the only place on Earth where one can find all five natural elements (fire, water, sky, earth and air) at one single spot, from which all material things in the universe are made. The 108 bull head shaped water sprouts or Muktidhara located on the south-face of the temple is believed to have holy properties that can wash away all your sins and liberate you from all your negative thoughts. The Muktidhara are natural watersprouts supplied by the Gandaki River flowing by the temple complex. The Mukti Kunda comprising of the twin holy ponds of Lakshmi Saraswati Kunda also has same significance and is located on the north face of the temple.
