Having credit card debt is indeed stressful especially when you have accumulated your outstanding balances up to a crucial stage. In order to get rid of the debts, you need to put in extra hard effort to pay them off. The whole credit debt cycle is considered very challenging and suffering.

If you have gone through this cycle before, I am very sure that you will NEVER want to "restart" the process. In order to prevent this from happening again in your life, there are important steps you need to take to stay away from the sticky situation.

First thing first, changing your lifestyle and your spending habit is essential. To be frank, you need personal changes. I am not saying that you are not qualified to own luxurious items. You can still purchase something you like but the money you spend MUST be within your financial ability. You need to be clear about your monthly income as well as your monthly commitment.

There must be many expenses you need to make in order to maintain your daily life. You need to spend on food, clothing, utilities, house, transportation, insurance, etc. Besides, you should save some ...
... money for emergency cases. Be frank to yourself. Do you have sufficient fund for all these?

Don't simply overspend just because you have credit cards in your wallet. It is not your real money in your pocket. You are actually borrowing from the lenders or card providers. You need to pay back on what you have swiped. Hence, it is necessary for you to work out a realistic monthly budget and follow accordingly. In order to avoid such debt, you must be strict to yourself.

Avoid unnecessary shopping either online or offline. If you don't have strong self discipline, I would suggest you to keep your cards at home when you go shopping. If you have the habit of shopping online, I would advise you to cut your credit cards and stop using them. By throwing these cards away, you can definitely stop creating new debts. In other words, by doing so, you can 100% avoid yourself from such debt cycle. I might be too cruel to say so but it really helps the undetermined card holders.

Moreover, if you are currently jobless, you have better drop your cards immediately. You don't need to feel ashamed if you don't have any card in your pocket. However, you should be worried if you repeat the debt cycle.
