Based in Taiwan, HTC have been responsible for bringing us some of the most innovative smartphones in recent years. This year sees them launch their newest model the HTC Desire, which uses the updated Android 2.1 user interface.

The slimline design of the HTC Desire makes it one of the thinnest smartphones on the market. Its finish is incredibly smooth, and has been ergonomically designed for ultimate user comfort. It also features a large OLED touch-sensitive display that measures just short of 4 inches.

The Desire makes use of the Sense user interface, developed by HTC themselves, which offers some enhancements over the standard Android user interface, such as the ability to scroll your finger across the bottom of the screen to reveal more options.

A smartphone packed with features is no use unless you can access those features quickly. The HTC Desire uses a 1 GHz processor to ensure ease of use and speedy connectivity. The processor is called Qualcomm Snapdragon and it was specially designed by HTC themselves.

If you are looking for a state of the art camera phone then there are definitely more ...
... impressive cameras on the market. But the 5 mega pixel camera and single LED flash that come with the HTC Desire are more than capable of capturing good quality snaps and video footage.

The HTC Desire does not have a standard keypad, instead it uses a virtual keypad via its large touch screen display. Emailing and text messaging is easy as the touch keypad is highly responsive, and with social networking apps like Facebook and Twitter built in, you can keep in touch with your friends wherever you go.

The screen itself offers excellent image quality, with a high resolution of 480 by 800 pixels. Text is sharp and easy to read, and images are clear with good contrast, making it ideal for watching videos or playing games.

The HTC Desire can easily double as a top of the range MP3 player thanks to its audio quality and easy to use media player app that comes integrated with the Sense user interface. It has plenty of memory to allow you to store endless tracks - 32 gigabytes to be precise, and it comes with a 3.5mm headphone socket to help you listen to tunes on the move Bonny Kominek is an expert in communications technology.
