Over the last fifteen years or more, Americans have had to choose between listening to various recorded messages in Spanish or English. As an older U.S. citizen I have found it somewhat annoying to have to choose between our native language English and the Spanish language, when conducting business in our country. Yet as we move into a more global society I have come to realize that we are one of the few countries, in the world, that for the most part speak only one language. Therefore, I am considering what advantages could be gained if I decided to learn Spanish as a second language. As I began looking for options to learning Spanish I discovered several products which seem to offer a good methodology for learning the Spanish language and are competitively priced.

I have mixed feelings about undertaking this new venture and I feel somewhat imposed upon for having to even consider the second language option. I have always felt that When in Rome, do as the Romans do and when in the United States of America, speak as the USA citizens do, which is speaking good old English. I know this may sound like a closed minded ...
... statement, but face it we are the United States of America.

On the other side of the coin, maybe it is time for me and many like me, to become better international neighbors and do a better job of learning more about the various cultures that surround us. Because of our neighbors to the South and the increasing Hispanic population within our country, perhaps it makes good sense to meet them half-way by learning to communicate in their native language. So, to study and learn Spanish could improve my ability to become a better citizen and neighbor. As I think about it, it would probably be quite rewarding to address a neighbor or passer-by in his native language as opposed to just speaking to them in English. Maybe there is an element of goodwill in having that kind of flexibility and perhaps that is what the new United States of America is all about. I believe our country will always be great and I want to do my part to keep it that way.

As for using a specific product to learn the Spanish language, I have found several that would work well for me, but there is one that really stands out. After going through the demonstration lessons I was definitely impressed. They use audio and visual presentations to demonstrate writing and speaking the language and I found that to be very helpful. The instructors spoke in a very clear tone and it was easy to understand each syllable spoken, which made learning the lessons easy. Another nice feature used in their teaching method was the verbal quiz at certain points during the lessons. The quizzes help to reinforce the understanding of new words introduced into each lesson, with respect to gender and meaning. I expect that learning Spanish using this Spanish Language system will not only be educational, but also fun.
