Party Supplies For Every Theme
If money is no object, then you can buy party supplies online for any party theme you can imagine. There are printed paper plates, table covers, party bags and all manner of other things available. If, however, you're trying to save some money then it can be useful to supplement more expensive party supplies with cheaper, simpler items.
For example, if you were throwing a pirate party you could get some printed balloons with skulls and crossbows on them, but then use more cost effective plain white paper plates. Of if you were throwing a Barbie themed party, you could purchase Barbie printed plates and napkins but decorate the room with cheap pink sugar-paper chains and cut out hearts.
Where you choose to save and splurge is up to you and it's quite straightforward too when it comes to party supplies for kid's parties. After all, kids have powerful imaginations and you don't need to splash out or spend a lot of cash to ensure they have a good time.
With adults, meanwhile, the most important thing has to be setting a mood rather than sticking to a prescribed theme. Subtle choices, such as adding scented ...
... candles to a chill out room or clearing a space to dance in can make a big difference to how a grown up party pans out!
Children's' Parties
Picking party supplies for children's' parties is good fun! Food and drink for children is notoriously unhealthy, though. You can carry on the tradition with plenty of fizzy pop and fairy cakes or you can attempt to re-address the sugar-coma balance. If you do decide to try a healthy buffet, we have a few words of advice for you.
Firstly, get them hungry! That means lots of high energy activities straight away when they arrive, like dancing competitions and games such as musical chairs. Then, when they are asking: 'what time is food time?' get out the chopped up vegetables and nutrient rich foods. They will dig right in and by the time the sweeter and less healthy food appears they'll be feeling quite full and will eat less of it.
You can get party supplies like specially designed cakes that feature a child's name from stores like Marks and Spencer when you order in advance and they will also cater for kids parties too. It can be a lot less expensive to do it yourself though.
Party Games
For fun and games you'll find loads of inspiration on the internet, but here are a few of our favourite children's' party games. They're classics!
Pin the Tail on the Donkey Children line up and the kid at the front is blindfolded. He or she spins on the spot twice, then tries to pin a 'tail' on a 'donkey.' You can use a home pin-board and print out or draw a donkey for this game. The winner (or tail pinner!) gets a prize.
Bash the Pi Like Pin the Tail on the Donkey, children queue and then are blindfolded and spun but they then have to hit a pi with a stick. The sweets which fall out of the pi are theirs to keep.
Musical Chairs When the music plays children have to keep moving. When it stops, they have to sit down. Each time the music stops a chair is removed meaning one child is 'out' each time. The last remaining child wins a prize.
As well as games, party hat making, balloon decorating (with felt tip pens) and face painting are all great activities to host at children's' parties and they don't require many special party supplies to set up.
Grown Up Parties
Grown up parties nearly always call for alcohol and we recommend ordering your boozy party supplies online because they will then be delivered to your home with minimal fuss. You can also make a designated space or 'bar' in your home.
The kitchen is a good place for that and it's somewhere people can congregate and chat. Some of us keep fridge freezers in garages too and these make good 'bar' spaces if you clear out any storage boxes and decorate them slightly.
Food at grown-up parties can be kept simple, cheap and cheerful. One great way to feed everyone affordably is to request that people bring some food along to share with others. In the US this sort of party is called 'pot luck' because everyone brings a 'pot' of something and it's 'pot luck' what turns out to be the final feast!
One benefit of the pot luck catering method is that if any of your friends know some good speciality recipes they can show off their culinary skills. Another benefit is that you'll need to spend less money on yummy party supplies!
