Nuance introduced OmniPage 17 last year, which is the newest version of its Optical Character Recognition application for MS Windows.

The software features improvements in accuracy of up to 40 percent. OmniPage 17 makes great results when changing paper documents into digital files. In addition, the new release features Scan-to-Kindle. It enables the scanned documents to be automatically reformatted for easy reading using the Kindle 2 form-factor. This allows any distortions to be corrected automatically, and the images are converted into editable text so that it can be sent to the Amazon Kindle book reader. Also, the program can create text which is used for text-to-speech read-aloud for Kindle 2 as well as other devices.
