Kitchen cabinets are a way that you can add style and convenience to your kitchen. If you have just purchased new kitchen cabinets you definitely want to make sure that you take care of them. Keeping your cabinets in nice shape and clean is going to help you ensure that they last for many years. To keep your cabinets looking beautiful for years, here are some helpful tips to keep in mind.

Tip #1 - Dust the Cabinets

Inevitably, the tops and all of the exposed edges of your cabinets are going to start building up dust, so it is important to dust on a regular basis. Use a lint free cloth to dust them off. If you want to avoid just spreading the dust around, spray a little water mist on them to keep this from happening.

Tip #2 - Clean Areas Around the Stove

You really need to carefully clean the areas that are around the stove. It is easy to get these cabinets greasy when you are cooking. Clean the grease away as soon as possible. If you don't take the time to clean away the grease regularly the wood can be damaged or stained for good, which is something you want to avoid.

Tip #3 - Use Cleaner ...
... that is Safe for Wood

If you happen to have wood cabinets, use a cleaner that is safe for wood. Spray it on the greasy areas and allow it to sit there for a few seconds. Then just wipe the cleaner off. Sometimes if there is a lot of dirt, grime, or grease, you may have to do this a few times to totally remove the problem.

Tip #4 - Take Care of Spills Quickly

Whenever a spill occurs, make sure that you clean it up right away. Use some soap and water on the spill and make sure you get it all up. Then once you wipe up the spill, use a soft and clean cloth to wipe the cabinets dry.

Tip #5 - Do a Thorough Cleaning Annually

At least once each year you are going to need to do a thorough cleaning of the cabinets. Use a bucket of warm water with some mild soap in it. Take everything out of the cabinets and then clean the insides, the outside, and every surface you can reach. Make sure you rinse them after you are done to get the soap off too. Before you put everything back, ensure that the cabinets are totally dry.

Tip #6 - Furniture Polish

Use some furniture polish on the cabinets on the outside. Just make sure that you go with a polish that is of high quality and that will not damage the cabinets. Then wipe with a rag that is clean and soft for a nice shine.

Tip #7 - Touch Up Scratches
If scratches occur to the kitchen cabinets, make sure that you touch them up. You can get a touch up kit that goes along with the finish you have on the cabinets. This way you avoid any ugly scratches. If you have a really deep nick, use some wood putty to fill it, allow it to dry, and then use stain that matches to touch it up.
If you are looking for high quality, solid wood cabinets for your kitchen at an affordable price, you have to take a look at RTA cabinets. I have been remodeling kitchens for over 10 years, and they have helped me save thousands on each kitchen.
