To many of us, having children will be the most important thing we ever do. Whilst it is furthering the course of the human race, and your family, more to the point it gives you exactly what the title of this piece says; a little treasure. From the first moment you see them on that ultrasound scan, to when they first come home, on to their first steps, first words, first days at school, even when they are surly teenagers screaming that they hate you (!), they are always the most special thing in your life.

What they do become also are massive gift consumers! Birthdays, Christmases, graduations, christenings, all of these come along in a fast flurry during your child's life, and each of them calls out for good gift ideas. Unfortunately, with having the rest of our lives going on, we find it hard to make the time to come up with innovative and fresh gift ideas. However, with the internet becoming easier and easier to use, it is commensurately easy for us to find good gifts for our little ones, from cradle up until the day they become adults. What can be said is that a lot of the activity regarding gift ideas comes mainly ...
... when children are babies, or at least relatively young. Below then are some great gift ideas for mums, dads, babies, toddlers, infants and even the big kids you might know!

One of the first things that a lot of people say about parenting is that "you don't get a manual to learn how to do it right!" However, with this gift you are proved wrong. The "Your New Baby: An Owner's Manual" aims, in humorous fashion, to show you the dos and don'ts of bringing up your new little bundle of joy. Full of funny tips and observations on just how naughty newborns tend to behave, the happy (and no doubt sleep deprived!) couple will no doubt get a few laughs out of this example of great gift ideas.

Now, one event that does crop up very early in the life of a little treasure is their christening. This is where the baby will be officially given the name it will carry all through its life. Whilst a joyous occasion and a chance for baby to meet everyone, it is also a nightmare, for a lot of people start to wonder about gift ideas. There is no need to worry though as there are some brilliant items you can get that you can add your personal touch to.

For instance, you could help them save for that first batch of toys by getting them an engraved silver-plated money box. These come in a variety of different styles, including a Mini Cooper and a camper van as well as normal styles, and all can be inscribed with any message you see fit. Also on this topic, and if you fancy getting something a little more traditional, you could even buy them an engraved half-pint pewter tankard, which again will bear whatever message you would like inscribed. Either of these gift ideas would make for a fabulous keepsake of the day.

You might be looking however for more general gift ideas, as something to buy for any occasion. As you might expect there are a good range of these types of gift ideas too. One particular gift that just jumped out due to its intrinsic value and uniqueness was the Wood Frame Baby Casting set. Using this set, you can take up to 8 castings of your baby's hands and feet. Then, using the 8x8 picture frame that comes with it, you can mount these castings inside and put them up on your wall. This is a perfect gift as it allows you to give a unique and sentimental gift to other who might not be able to see the baby very often, due to living a distance away, for instance.

Either way, this makes for a fantastic present regardless of the occasion.
Out of all these gift ideas, there is a common theme. As well as giving a present to the child you are also gifting it a keepsake, made all the more poignant by the fact that a lot of these gift ideas are personalised, meaning they are not just a mass-produced way of something else saying what you want to say. So, be sure to have a good hunt when looking for gifts for your little treasures, as the above is only a brief overview of the brilliant presents that can be found.
