Issues That Arise When You Convert Nsf To Pst
Migrating from Lotus Notes to Outlook is quite a common phenomenon now-a-days. This is because all users look for applications suiting their personal requirements. Many of them require just an email client and then there are others who look for integrated features like chat, appointment etc. These requirements often create differences of preference consequently giving rise to migration from one email platform to another. Migration of Lotus Notes to Outlook will compel you to convert NSF to PST if you wish to keep the previous emails. However, converting NSF to PST is not that simple. Migration is a time-consuming task and requires in-depth knowledge of both email clients.
If you have decided to convert NSF to PST, then you need to plan the entire Lotus Notes to Outlook migration process as one of the following issues might disrupt your migration plans:
Not able to migrate Name and Address Book Contacts to Outlook Contacts folder
If you want to convert NSF to PST ...
... then you may also require the personal contacts in your Lotus Notes email profile. However, you cannot utilize the Migration Wizard (Migwiz.exe) installed with Exchange Server 5.5 and 2000 to migrate your personal contacts from Lotus Notes because the contacts are stored in client’s Personal Name and Address Book file (which is often named as Names.nsf) and is stored locally on Notes client. Personal Name and Address Book file in Notes is similar to Personal Address Book (.pab) files that are used in Microsoft Outlook to store contacts locally.
Mail-to link starts Lotus Notes instead of Outlook
There is an issue that arises which is that Mail-to link starts Lotus Notes instead of Outlook. The reason behind this issue is, after you convert Lotus Notes to Outlook, Lotus Notes is still set as the default mail program in Internet Explorer, or in the Mail-to protocol or in Notes.ini file.
Folders move to Trash in Lotus Notes Client Still Appear in Outlook Connector
When you move a folder to Trash using the Move Folder option in Lotus Notes and exit the client and then again access the account with the help of MS Outlook 2002 Connector, the folder that you moved to Trash will still appear in the MS Outlook Connector. In order to resolve this issue, you can use the Delete Folder option when you delete the folder in the Lotus Notes client.
However, all these issues cannot be met at the same time. Therefore, whenever you plan to convert NSF to PST, always consider utilization of an effective and output-driven Lotus Notes to Outlook conversion tool. Convert NSF to PST tool is highly effective in email migration as it makes sure that each and every corresponding change has been made. Using convert NSF to PST tool you can easily migrate all emails, attachments, images, notes, journals, appointments, tasks, schedules, to-do item list, sent emails, drafts, alarms, rules, calendar, address book, folder and sub-folders in Lotus Notes to Outlook email platform.
