The Golden Circle is famous for several reasons. Firstly, the circuit lets a traveller understand what Iceland is all about. The route is like a miniature version of the country itself. Secondly, it is quite close to Reykjavik. Therefore, covering the entire circuit is only a matter of a few hours. However, there are a few secret locations in the Golden Circle which most travel agencies tend to exclude. Here you will learn about a few of them.

The Laugarvatn Fontana: The Blue Lagoon attracts a majority of tourists. Only the snoopy travellers who are inquisitive can locate the Laugarvatn Fontana. It allows you to experience both warm and ice-cold water at the same time. The spa is beside a cold lake where the water is freezing. Now that you know about this place ask your provider of Golden Circle Tours Iceland to take you there.

Bruarhlod Canyon: It is close to the Geysir geothermal area. Geysir is one of the main attractions of the Golden Circle Tours Iceland. The excitement of ...
... seeing the Geysir often makes travel agencies forget about this hidden gem, Bruarhlod. The Hvita River made its way through the agglomerate and created beautiful rock formations. There are two rock formations here which are the representations of Man and Woman.

The church of Skalholt: The cathedral of Skalholt isn’t far away from Bruarhlod. Among the two episcopal sites of Iceland, Skalholt is the first while Holar is the second. The church of Skalholt is a historic mansion which has been there since the early eleventh century. It was also the first educational institution to bestow knowledge upon future clergymen.

The Nesjavellir power station: The trip to the Thingvellir National Park will inevitably pass through the Nesjavellir National Park. It is a geothermal power station which is also the second-largest producer of energy for Iceland. It was in 1947 when they laid the foundation of this power plant. However, the construction work went on for years. It ended recently in 1990.

The cave of Laugarvatnshellir: Iceland is the result of unrelenting volcanic activity. When you get there, you’ll learn that there are many cave systems all over the country. You can visit a few of them but not all. One of those approachable grottoes is the Laugarvatnshellir. They say that two families succeeded each other in this particular fissure. According to assumptions, Irish monks initiated the cave. If it is true, then it was an event that occurred before the arrival of the Vikings.

Secrets abound
So, now you know that the Golden Circle doesn’t only comprise of national parks, geothermal fields, and waterfalls. The three hundred kilometer-long route houses several secrets. It is a sheer source of excitement to uncover the mysteries. You don’t have to join the crowds to see the most renowned destinations. Though, you should miss the major attractions of the Golden Circle. Try to incorporate these locations in your itinerary on a different date.
