How I Got A Free Ipad

This is not my usual kind of blog post, but this story was pretty funny to me and my coworkers. I’ll try to keep it short.
Last week I came into work and my coworkers noticed I had a remote control in my laptop bag. They started to ask why I brought this remote control with me to work. I chuckled, and then explained that I had gotten into an argument with my husband the evening before and I was hiding the remote to get back at him. My coworkers are all male, so, not surprisingly, they were in shock and pretty empathetic towards my husband.
I was really ticked off at him and knew that he was going to have the day off. I knew he was going to sit on the couch and would want to tune into all those guilty pleasures talk shows we love to watch whenever we have the luxury of staying home on a weekday. The thought of him having to stand up to change the channel and adjust the volume gave me a warm feeling inside. (Queue evil laugh…)
Keeping that in mind, I decided the best revenge for upsetting me would be to hold the remote hostage. When I got home, my husband noticed I was still ...
... not speaking to him, but he asked “Hey, did you take the remote to work?†I smiled and replied, “Yup! Sure did!†He was surprised to get a few words out of me and said “You’re crazy, you know that?!â€Â
After some more back and forth and an [weak] apology he asked for the remote back. I hid it well and I wasn’t quite over the initial incident, so I said no to his request to have it back. He then gave me an offer I couldn’t refuse. “I will go right now and get you an iPad if you forgive me and tell me where the remote is,†he said. My eyes opened wide and I said “Uh yeah…You got a deal!â€Â
I handed over the remote and that, ladies and gentlemen is how I got a free iPad. Suddenly I felt like I would be the coolest kid in school again. All I could think about was the look on my co-workers faces on Monday morning as I strolled into the office, iPad in hand. I actually decided to wait for the 3G version instead, but I did gush about my little victory.
Some of you might wonder what I was so angry about. I’ll spare you the details, but to be fair, I had no idea that I would be offered an iPad to bury the hatchet. In my defense, the fact that I was promised one proves I was right to be angry in the first place!
