Performing Dbx Repair When Emails Fail To Delete

Corruption issues in Outlook Express are quite common. Outlook Express often halts sending and receiving email messages due to such corruption problems in its standard folders. When corruption strikes Outlook Express, the standard folders of your email profile tend to respond absurdly and lose normal functioning causing number of issues to the user.

The most common reasons behind this abrupt behavior of MS Outlook Express can be dirty shutdown, antivirus scanning, file crossing the 2 GB limitation and more. One such issue arises, when the Deleted Items folder of your Outlook Express is corrupt. Usually the emails saved in Deleted Items folder are not of much importance, but if it comprises of a few email messages that were unintentionally deleted, then you need to extract that important data from it. And to do so, you need to make use of your last valid backup or run the Outlook Express Repair utility.

Now supposing you try deleting one of the email messages from your Outlook Express standard folders such as Inbox, Drafts, and Sent Items etc. The email message cannot be moved to ‘Deleted Items' folders ...
... and the operation fails with or without error message. Now, you click on ‘Deleted Items' folder to check what happened, the application hangs. Therefore, one of the key reasons for this issue can be a corruption of Deleted Items folder.

In order to resolve this issue, you first need to confirm that this issue is actually occurring due to ‘Deleted Items' folder. In order to ensure that this issue is arising because of ‘Deleted Items' folder corruption, try moving the email messages from the folder (from which you were experiencing the issue) to a different folder. If this transfer ends successfully, the ‘Deleted Items' folder is corrupt. If not, the issue may be corruption the root folder itself.
If the corrupt ‘Deleted Items.dbx' folder doesn't comprise of any important email messages, then you can delete it or can rename it and repair it. To do so, follow the steps given below:

1.Quit Outlook Express
2.Click Start > Search or Find > All Files and Folders and type ‘deleted items.dbx' in the search box and search the file
3.Right-click the file and click ‘Rename' or ‘Delete'. Type ‘deleted items1.dbx' to search the file
4.Restart Outlook Express
