Dell’s G Gaming Laptop Series Will Starts Looking More Like Alienware In 2019
Dell has released the next generation of budget gaming laptops, the Dell G5 15, G7 15 and G7 17.
Although Dell has previously introduced the G-series name, these new gaming laptops are starting to look more and more like their Alienware counterparts. The Dell G7 15 and G5 15 are 15-inch notebooks with a dark blue black option with a blue tint and a raised appearance around the bezel that may help with heat dissipation.
However, the user can choose the Dell G5 15 SE, which has the same specifications as the Dell G5 15, but has the same blue tone in the Alpine White chassis.
The main difference between the two models is the size. The Dell G5 15 measures 0.95 inches (23.7 mm) and weighs 6.1 pounds (2.77 kg).
However, the Dell G7 15 is thinner at 0.78 inches (19.9 mm), so the weight is reduced to 5.77 pounds (2.62 kg).
These slim and light chassis use the latest Intel Coffee Lake processor with Intel Core i7-8750HQ six-core processor and Nvidia Turing graphics up to RTX 2080.
Users can also upgrade their monitors to 4K UHD (3,840 x 2,160) OLED displays for high-detail games, or choose the ...
... 144Hz FHD (1,920 x 1,080) panel, perfect for competitive gaming.
The Dell G5 15 starts at $999 (approximately £780, $1,400) and the Dell G5 15 SE is available as an upgrade option. If you want a thin Dell G7 15, then your starting price is $1099 (about 870 pounds, $1,550). The two laptops will be available on January 21.
Bigger and worse
Dell not only announced the launch of two budget-grade 15-inch gaming notebooks. The manufacturer also showed off the Dell G7 17, installing more powerful hardware behind a larger chassis.
The Dell G7 17 will allow users to choose the Intel Core i9 processor, which greatly increases horsepower. However, other specifications, including Nvidia Turing graphics, remain the same - using the RTX 2080.
The Dell G7 17 has the same deep-sky black as the 15-inch model. Unlike many 17-inch gaming laptops, it is not too thick, only 0.98 inches (25 mm) thick and weighs 7.21 pounds (3.27 kg).
But keep in mind that the 17-inch display version does not have the 4K UHD (3,840 x 2,160) option because it is limited to FHD (1,920 x 1,080). However, you can choose a high refresh rate of 144Hz.
The Dell G7 17 will be available on January 21, starting at $1,379 (approximately £1,090, $1,950).
