While the
annapurna circuit is magnificent in itself, it takes one to a completely new level when it is combined with the Tilicho Lake trek. The route for the trek is similar to the Annapurna Circuit Trek with a little diversion.
After reaching Manang, the route takes you to the main valley (instead of going north to the valley to Tanki Manang and Yak Kharka) through the last village of Nepal, the Khanshar village. From there the trekkers trek up to the famous Tilicho Lake which is often claimed to be the highest lake in the world. From Tilicho Lake one has to move forward to Yak Kharka to Thorung La Pass at an altitude of 5416 meters. And from there the descend starts down to Muktinath to Jomsom. And then fly back from Jomsom to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu.
More about Tilicho Lake

In the year 2001 several Hindu pilgrims from around the world went in large numbers to the highest lake considering it to be a holy spot that is mentioned in their religious book, Ramayana. The water in the lake is actually the glacial melt from all the northern slopes of Thorang and Annapurna Peak
