Multi-vitamin Tablets Would Increase The Risk Of Suffering Breast Cancer

Researchers from Caroline School of Medicine in Stockholm followed more than 35,000 Swedish women aged between 49 and 83-year-old. Before this study, these respondents were non-cancer patients. The researchers asked them to answer questions about issues of taking vitamin tablets as well as health and lifestyle. About 10 years later, 974 respondents were diagnosed with breast cancer. Considering the age of these respondents, family history of breast cancer, weight, consumption of fruits and vegetables, physical exercise, habits of smoking and drinking, the researchers found that people who took vitamin had the higher chance of suffering breast cancer than those who did not. So the conclusion is that there is a relation between increased risks of breast cancer and vitamin.
Study found that people who took vitamin tablets have higher risks of suffering breast cancer on the whole, but for the individual, the probability is still small. In this survey, 293 in 9017 patients had breast cancer. Daily Mail had quoted the words of the researchers which mean that the findings did not prove that vitamin tablets were the culprits ...
... for increased risks of breast cancer. However, this result which needed further investigation was still disturbing. As for the reasons of the relation between increased risks of breast cancer and taking vitamin, the researchers said, according to animal study, folic acid from B complex Vitamins would lead to breast cancer, but test results from human were different, some tests supported this conclusion while others showed there were unrelated. Previous studies have found that the breast density of premenopausal women who took vitamin tablets was higher than those who didn't take. In other words, the fat in the breast was less and on the contrary there were more glands and connective tissue in the breast, you know, higher breast density means higher risk of breast cancer.
The value of health care products on the market is about 765 million U.S. dollars. According to statistics, about half of U.S. adults and nearly a quarter of British adults take the health care products daily. Most of the products they took are vitamin tablets.
