The recent, wide-spread use of internet services and mobile internet has given rise to great opportunities in all sectors. It has ushered in a new era of technological innovation, especially in the area of telecommunication. With each upgrade, users of mobile internet have been able to experience higher data speed and easier communication. In fact, connectivity forms an integral part of this system, and without connectivity, signals required to experience internet would be lost. Due to poor connectivity, even operators that provide high-frequency bands often fail to deliver the better speed that was promised to their consumers. At times, when one network is being used by too many consumers in a particular place, the internet bandwidth also lowers. This is where the distributed antenna system (DAS) steps in to complete the equation and establish better connectivity, providing higher speed in all remote as well as densely populated locales.

The benefits of the DAS System

The DAS system utilizes multiple antennas instead of just one to secure wireless coverage in an area which reduces its overall strength ...
... but increases reliability without necessitating the deployment of micro or small cells. It is the best solution to eradicate the problem of poor network connectivity and does not require large infrastructures or set-ups to function. It can cater to several telecom operators at the same time. The strength of the DAS system depends upon wireless amplifiers that split to amplify the wireless signal. The DAS system is often built with a combination of coaxial and fiber optic cables that allows the radio over fiber (ROF) technology to transmit wireless signals among all antennas. Two kinds of cables are used in the DAS system, namely, coaxial and fiber optic cables. Coaxial cables are lower quality cables that are affordable but incapable of transmitting optimum signals. The fiber optic cables are more durable and transmit signals efficiently but are extremely expensive. Therefore, a combination of these cables manages the cost while improving the internet speed. This method provides satisfactory results and is driving the growth of the global distributed antenna systems market.

Key factors driving market growth

Increased research and development in specific areas have supported the need to explore better and more viable options. The swelling population of smartphone users has to a certain extent launched the DAS technology. It is definitely a better network channel that encourages interconnectivity between antenna modules and enhances internet speed. The technology can be installed for use both in closed and open spaces. A growing number of internet service providers are opting for the DAS system as it is profitable for them and their consumers. Smartphone applications which include video and audio streaming and require high internet bandwidth can be used at a reduced data rate.

The DAS system is a boon for the public sector and emergency services as it provides wireless network coverage in major hubs such as subways, airports, hospitals and roadway tunnels. The distributed antenna system market size is predicted to grow based on these factors. The DAS technology is gradually getting incorporated in various other regions for its utility and effectiveness. The ease of connectivity is appreciated by all major industries as many of the services they provide are through digitalized platforms. Moreover, many functions performed within an industry depend upon better and faster networking. Integration of the DAS system for commercial purposes will further drive the global distributed antenna systems market.
