Restaurants glasgow

Glasgow, as most visitors will testify, is a fantastic city with a vibrant and exciting nightlife. It's not just concerts, pubs and nightclubs that make it special, however, because the Glasgow restaurant scene is one of the best in the country. From gastro-pubs to 5 star a 'la carte restaurants, this city has it in abundance. Here are my top 3 tips for the best Glasgow restaurant experience - in no particular order now:

1. Michael Caines - situated in the centre of the city on Bath street, Michael Caines sets new standards in chic. Although its situated in a fantastic Victorian listed building, this restaurant offers a contemporary dining experience that is unmatched in the city. Incidentally, the Michael Caine in the name is not the famous actor, but rather an award winning chef who has secured top plaudits including AA'S Chef's chef of the year and an MBE for services to the catering industry. This dedication to quality and service is reflected throughout the whole establishment. Well worth a visit if quality dining is your thing.

2. Sloans Bar And Restaurant. If you like your dining experience to be a bit different then you must check out Sloans - after all it's the oldest Glasgow restaurant and pub. The décor is stunning, featuring the recently refurbished restaurant complete with its stunning Georgian wood panelling and intricately carved cornices. The foods pretty decent too, and with quirky events like the regular eat film night where you can watch a movie for free while you dine, this is one of Glasgow's most popular eateries.

3. Dragon I. This place has really been taking the city by storm and was recently voted one of the top 5 Chinese restaurants in the Uk by the Observer. The surroundings are sumptuous, as is the food and if you only eat one Chinese meal this year - please make sure you enjoy it in Dragon I.

There are literally hundreds of great Glasgow restaurant experiences to savour in this amazing city, but hopefully I have given you a little start with my three top picks. One thing is for sure, whatever your culinary tastes, Glasgow has it covered, from Mongolian to Fish and Chips. Visit, eat and enjoy.
