Smoking kills. This is a fact that has been established and there is no denying it. It is one very dangerous habit for the health of the person doing it and for those around the person because of the second hand smoke. It is one of the leading causes of cancer in the world and it has been a rampant problem for a long time. Based on the statistics by Action on Smoking and Health, in the United Kingdom an estimated 9 million adults smoke cigarettes. That constitutes to 19 percent of the men in the country and 15 percent of the women.
This deadly habit has prompted a lot of action against it and most of the country has now become smoke free. Besides banning smoking, and making it difficult for smokers to continue the habit, there is also a concerted effort being made to protect the people affected by second hand smoking.
Over the past decade, vaping has become a worldwide sensation. The industry is booming and becoming popular for a lot of reasons. One of the foremost reasons for vaping and e-cigarettes to become so popular is the fact that it is considered to be 95 percent safer than traditional cigarettes based on the expert independent review commissioned by the PHE. That being said, the growing popularity of vaping has also seen some lawmakers trying to apply the same argument as smoking to start vaping bans. A lot of people wonder whether or not vaping is safe not only for the person doing it but for the people around them.
Is Second Hand Vaping Safe?
The aspect of second hand vaping and the facts about whether or not it is safe has been a matter of concern for some time now. There have been a lot of studies done in order to come to a conclusion so that the matter can be put to rest.
A study was conducted in homes so that the real use case scenario for vaping and its potential impact on people can be recorded. This study found that the use of e-cigarettes in a home definitely does increase the airborne nicotine levels in homes. While that may be a concerning factor, it is also important to note that the airborne nicotine levels because of traditional cigarettes in homes is almost 6 times the amount with e-cigarettes and vaping.
You see, the biggest problem when it comes to exposure from second hand smoking is not just the nicotine levels. The process of combustion also creates a lot of harmful chemicals and tar that a smoker inhales and exhales into the air which makes second hand smoke so dangerous.
When it comes to e-cigarettes and vaping, there is a slight increase in the exposure to nicotine. Compared to the level of exposure through second hand smoking, however, the exposure is negligent and it does not entail any other harmful chemicals and tar.
The final verdict is that second hand vaping is indeed much safer than second hand smoking. For more information about e-cigarettes and e-liquids UK then visit iBreathe.
