For centuries the scientists have tried to develop chemical solutions which could protect textiles from getting burnt. After years of study, scientists have found out some financially feasible ways by which we can finally have fire retardant fabric for everyday use. This is helping a lot of people worldwide coming from various working-class backgrounds.

While talking about fire retardant fabric the first people whose thought come to our minds are the brave Firemen. These highly trained professionals are active and alert day and night to protect our lives and precious belongings from the deadly grasp of fire. Fire consumes everything but, these newly developed chemical coating is protecting the firemen from getting burnt. These days, the chemicals are even available to the people belonging from other professions. The engine room workers of large containers carrying ships or boiler rooms of large factories can also take advantage of this technology to protect themselves from extreme heat and flame. These chemicals can be used over both natural fibres like cotton and wool and the artificial fibres like nylon and polyester and some even usable over leather too. The people who work on deep mines and digs new petroleum sources they can use it too and many countries like Australia, USA and EU had made it mandatory for these professionals to wear fire resistive uniform while working to remain safe from any kind of accidental flames.

There are many common misconceptions can be found regarding the flame resistive clothing. Many believe that all garments are, essentially, identical which is not. When it comes to fire resistive clothing, there are many aspects that must be examined closely and carefully before selecting. An appropriate purchase decision can be made if it fulfils all the necessary criteria are met.

There are two types of flame resistive fabrics forms are available from which garments are made, these are inherent fabric and treated fabric. The inherent textiles are engineered to be flame resistant for life, having the resistive properties literally built in at the molecular level. The protection doesn't wash or wear out and the garment will always be flame resistive, no matter how long it is in use. On the other hand, the treated fabrics go through a chemical application process that makes them flame resistive. Over time, the resistive properties degrade and become less and less protective but, comparatively, it is a much cheaper option than the other one.
