Chemotherapy for breast cancer is associated with disruption of sleep-wake rhythm in women. The international breast cancer study group trial VI randomly assigned 735 pre- and premenopausal patients to receive 'classical' cyclophosphamide, methotrexate and fluorouracil for three consecutive cycles, or the same chemotherapy for six consecutive cycles. The main chemotherapy drugs used in breast cancer treatment are doxorubicin and docetaxel,
but there are many other available drugs.
In addition to anti-cancer medications, a woman with breast cancer might be given hormone therapy, which disables hormones or prevents them from helping cancer cells to grow. While the debate about cognitive decline being a result of chemotherapy is still ongoing, there is clear evidence of cognitive decline in women with breast cancer post-chemotherapy. Studies suggest that incidence of "chemobrain" ranges from 17% - 75% in women who have undergone chemotherapy. In brief, ...
... patients having received anthracycline-containing chemotherapy for localized breast cancer are candidates.

Women with breast cancer can have chemotherapy in an outpatient part of the hospital, at the doctor's office, or at home. Chemotherapy for breast cancer is associated with cognitive impairment; however, the magnitude of this impairment is unclear. This study assessed the severity and nature of cognitive impairment associated with adjuvant chemotherapy by conducting a meta-analysis of the published literature to date. Method: six studies (five cross-sectional and one prospective) meeting the inclusion criteria provided a total of 208 breast cancer patients who had undergone adjuvant chemotherapy, 122 control participants and 122 effect sizes (cohen's d) falling into six cognitive domains.
