The role of a loss assessor is essentialin processing and handling anyinsurance claims. People who file insurance claims after a heavy loss they have gone through usually know nothing about the significance of loss assessor.

They sometimes get in contact with loss adjuster instead of a loss assessor. So, let us see the detailed comprehension below about what a loss assessor does and why their role is so important.

It is very important to know whom you are approaching while you have an insurance claim because you might have already lost many valuables due to the accident like robbery, fire or a natural disaster. To bring your life back to normal you should have some monetary backup and that is what your insurance would provide you. Often people make the mistake of mixing up the role of loss assessor and loss adjuster.

A loss Assessor or an insurance assessor works exclusively on behalf of the claimant. He makes sure that the property is valued while the losses are properly covered. He is more like an attorney who fights for your rights on your behalf so that you get the monetary value you deserve.

The basic duties of a loss assessor or an insurance assessor include:

• Representing the claimant to the insurance company and setting meetings with the loss adjusters.
• Drafting and finalizing the claims on behalf of the claimant who has suffered damage and loss.
• Negotiating with the insurance company and the loss adjuster in order to get a fair settled value.
• Handles complex cases and the cases which the insurance company has earlier rejected due to certain complications in the process.

Whereas the loss adjuster is hired by the insurance company to verify the claim and to know the exact status of the damage done. A loss adjuster is believed to work on behalf of both the parties. But as they are hired by the insurance company they would not negotiate or fight for the exact value on behalf of the claimant.

The basic duties of a loss adjuster are:
• They do a thorough investigation of the incident place and the event.
• Take interviews of the witnesses
• Negotiate with both the parties
• Calculate the value of the property, calculate loss, make guidelines for making a claim.
• They act as a mediator between both the parties.
• Participate in meetings and trials.

Loss adjusters would not negotiate for the exact loss of the claimant with the insurance company and would not find ways to do,so that the claimant gets what he deserves and so here is where the loss assessors come into the picture.
