The holy city of Makkah, located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has a hot desert climate, which is characterised by extremely hot summers with daytime temperatures often above the level of 40-Degree Celsius. During the period from December to February, the holy city provides some respite to its locals as well as visitors coming from different parts of the world with slightly lower temperatures. Owing to this slight fall in temperatures during these times of the year, many of the Muslims residing in countries of Northern Europe choose to perform Umrah in the period between December and February.

Many of the Muslims living in the United Kingdom also prefer to perform Umrah, also known as the lesser pilgrimage or the minor pilgrimage in the month of February. The packages for Umrah February month provides for them through various travel companies or tour operators give them the chance to fulfil their dream of accomplishing the lesser pilgrimage. A significant amount of savings can also be made upon booking such packages several months in advance. The UK Muslims who book their packages months in advance can utilise the savings made for buying some souvenirs during their time spent in the holy city after performing their minor pilgrimage.

Some of the important Islamic sites in and around Makkah can also be visited with the help of savings made while booking any of the February Umrah packages. One of the popular places worth visiting is Mount Arafat, which is also known as the 'Jabal al-Rahmah'. This granite hill is located in the plain of Arafat to the south-east of Makkah. This is the place where Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) delivered his 'Farewell Sermon' to those who had accompanied him towards the end of his life for performing the major pilgrimage of Hajj. Another significant event that happened at this place is that the first prophet Adam (peace be upon him) was forgiven for his sin.

Jabal al-Noor is another important mountain, which the UK pilgrims can visit after performing their Umrah in February. It is situated in the Hejazi region near Makkah and is home to the 'Cave of Hira'. Both the mountain and the cave is revered by Muslims across the world. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had spent a considerable amount of time in deep contemplation and received his first revelation of the Holy Quran from the Archangel Jibreel (A.S) in the Cave of Hira. About 2 hours of hike and 1,200 steps are needed in order to reach this cave.

Abu Qubais is yet another sacred mountain located on the holy city's eastern frontier, which can be visited by pilgrims arriving in Makkah from the UK. The exact origin of this name is still unknown, but many believe that the mountain was known as al-Amin during the times when pagan Arabs lived in this region. According to the local legends, the mountain was the first place on earth where the first of men lived and were buried after they died.
