Lg Gd900 Review- The Crystal Phone With Style Design

LG GD900 is a sleek high-end gadget that will let you satisfied with the looks. It is finished with a variety of features though it is not the iconic multimedia mobile phone from LG. Undoubtedly, the style design and practical functionality of LG GD900 catch the eyes of many users. The GD900 measures 105 x 52.5 x 13.5mm and weighs 127g.
The most fascinating feature of the GD900 is its see through keypad which deserves the main attention. The white glow of the phone is intriguing especially when the phone is used in the dark. The whole body of the phone is covered by transparent plastic which gives a sexy appeal to the phone. However, the overall design seems too much plastic without metal finishes .
The simple and elegant 3 inches WVGA display with a resolution of 480 x 800 compliments the see through keypad. High quality images are displayed by the screen and you can't expect AMOLED quality display though. The touch screen uses capacitive technology which is great for those who want to use their large fingers to activate ...
... menus. You just have to touch the phone gently to activate menus. The multi touch support features allow gestures like pinching which aid to zoom applications. However, the screen is not quite readable in bright sunlight. The proximity sensor is at the top of the phone and it locks your phone automatically when you make calls and talk.
You need to slide the touch screen to reveal an interesting keypad. It is also a touch screen with letters. So to type text, all you need to do is touch the keypad that is illuminated from its sides. Even though the keypad looks really cool, many users feel that it does nothing except adding to the touch screen experience.
The camera of the GD900 is complete with a 8MP camera, self portrait mirror and LED flash. However, performance in terms of still images and videos is not satisfactory. The cube interface provides instant access to music player which is fully featured. The Dolby mobile delivers rich sounds. There is an FM radio with RDS, which requires you to plug in a headphone that acts as an antenna. The video player is fun to use, but the number of formats it supports is limited.
The S class UI is used in the GD900. The fancy 3D UI is very comfortable to explore. Hardware graphic acceleration allows all functions to be displayed smoothly. The four home screens help you manage your phone in four different chunks. 3D cube is the main core of the 3D interface from which you can reach almost all menus with a single touch. The main menu is composed of horizontally scrollable menu icons. It is quite interesting that the accelerometer will be activated when you rotate the phone and thus making the orientation of the display changes automatically. Due to limited multitasking provided in the GD900, you can run two applications at a time.
You will get the basic phonebook features in the GD900 too. The call quality is superior and LG has once again proved that it is worth investing in LG mobile phones. SMS, MMS and emails can be sent and received easily once you get used to the touch screen keypad. Aside from the keypad, there is a virtual QWERTY keyboard which makes messaging much easier. The LG web browser in the GD900 allows you to browse the web, but it doesn't offer flash support. Streaming videos can only be viewed using EDGE network even though the GD900 supports HSDPA and Wi-Fi.
The GPS receiver is no more an added feature and it has become one of the essential features. It is disappointing that the GD900 does not have GPS. There is no 3.5mm audio jack which is unacceptable for a feature rich mobile phone. The standard Li-ion 1000 mAh battery supports 300 hours of standby time and talk time of 6 hours for 2G and 4 hours for 3G networks.
