Essay format changes according to the requirement of the colleges. There are some standard formats those we generally follow if there is no clear specification about the format of the essay.
The whole essay should be typed clearly and it should be typed in only side of the paper. It is wise not to use both side of the paper for typing your essay. Now day students do not submit their copy hand written. There are different forms of font format available in the computer. We generally use Times New Roman format for writing our essays. You may need to submit several copies in your college but don't forget to keep one copy for yourself. You should use good quality white paper for writing your essay. The paper and the ink should be such that it can be preserved for a good period of time. You need to give margins in all side of the paper. It would be nice to give one inch margin at the top and the bottom and on both sides of your essay paper. Give indent at the time you are going to start any new paragraph. Diagrams are appealing to the eyes as well as to intellect and are therefore helpful in assimilating the data readily and quickly. More over, a chart can clarify a complex problem and reveal hidden facts, which are not apparent from the tabular form. It is sometimes necessary in finding the trend in time series and also in finding relations between several sets of observations. In some cases, the graph may be used as a means of checking mistakes. There are also several disadvantages of charts and diagrams. Charts do not show details, which is possible in the tabular presentation. Graphical presentation can reveal only approximate position. Also graphs and charts require much time to construct, whereas the desired information can be quickly conveyed by arranging the data in the form of a table. Apart from charts and diagrams different types of tables are also used in an essay. These tables are labeled properly so the reader can easily comprehend the reason for using the table.
Another important part is the bibliography section. In this section the name of all the references those you have used for making the essay should come in a proper manner. The name of the book, the name of the author and the page numbers should be stated properly.
