Social marketing is using the communities on the internet to generate sales by socializing and creating relationships with members on the sites. Some of the most commonly used social sites are MySpace, Digg, Twitter, and FaceBook. These sites all have large followings that are the perfect place to meet friends and create business relationships as well as the internet relationships currently filling the lives of many people.

To use the sites to promote your business by social marketing needs to be done discretely. Since most of the sites frown on blatant advertising or contacting other members to sell them your products, you must build a relationship with the individuals before approaching them for business purposes.

You can use the sites to promote your business easily by adding links to your website to your social website pages, signature, and profile. Since members do read the profiles of other members, you will peek their interest in your business with the link you provide them. They will generally click the link out of interest, thus you have gained a possible customer.

The features can be add-ons from the site or from other sites that will be allowed within the social site. Research the internet and the site to see what you can add.

When you take the time to make a great presentation of yourself, you gain friends. With the friendships comes the ability to promote your business. Simply stated, become a social butterfly on the site. Be outgoing but not too obvious about your intentions to promote your business or products. Do not be pushy until you have a solid relationship and the member shows signs of interest.

Many social marketers know the importance of meeting a larger number of people so they have found the best source of meeting others is the social network sites. Try it and watch your business bloom.
