Pet food for dogs has improved over the years and dog owners want the best for their pet dogs in the way of dog nutrition. The best pet diet for a dog is a natural one that is as near to one they would manage when living in the wild. Nutrition has been the talking point of pet food manufacturers and they have realised that most pet owners want quality ingredients rather than cheap ingredients to keep their pets in good health.

Dogs are not vegetarians although some do love a few bits of cooked carrot as a treat. A vet will tell you that dogs are able to use their grinding teeth, which are strategically placed in their mouths to feed themselves with essential meat products, carbohydrates and vegetables. When looking at pet food, check the ingredients as they should have grains in them, preferably wholemeal rice or corn. They should have meat products, a few vegetables and minerals with extra vitamins for larger breeds of dog.

Working dogs such as a collie require a larger portion of pet food than a small breed of dog that does not have to work for his food. Some dogs love to have heart, liver or kidneys ...
... cooked for them as a treat. However there is a chance they may get diarrhoea so keep it as a treat.

If all this sounds daunting then make time to make your pet healthier with dog nutrition that has been pre-balanced to make your dog healthy for many years to come. Quality pet food with a good multi-vitamin and mineral mix is commercially available here at Hills Pet Nutrition. A pet diet will help with a dog's digestion and balancing his weight. Watching a pet dog enjoy his food is wonderful and with a balanced pet diet your dog will enjoy a better quality of life.
