When it comes to DRTV best practices speaking clearly to customers is at the top of the list. The reason why is because you want your customers to understand what is being said, what the features of the product are, and how they can make a purchase. Speaking clearly and in simple words is often times the easiest way to address viewers who are potential customers. Using large words, difficult to understand comparisons, or anything at an advanced level (unless your target market is of an advanced educational level) may turn some viewers off or worse yet not allow them to understand what your product can do for them.

The first thing that you will want to do is ensure you have a script that is not only informative and interesting, but also speaks clearly and in a straightforward manner. The last thing you want to do is have a script that is confusing or doesn't pull the reader in. Many successful direct response television writers have significant experience and will be able to write a script about the product you are selling. However, not all writers are created equal and some have more experience in one industry than another, ...
... or even in a particular style of writing. Figure out how you want to address the audience, the feeling you want the script to create, and then let the writer know. Coming up with a direction for the script before it is written is really important and will help reduce potential problems.

When you have a clear script that is easy to understand and brings the viewer in then you will truly have accomplished something important for the success of your direct response television campaign. That's why a great script is so important and part of DRTV best practices. Take the time and effort to get the script right and the infomercial will go off without a hitch. Another suggestion is to read various scripts from a couple of different DRTV script-writers so you can get a feel for the writer that will be the best for your infomercial.

DRTV advertisers can improve their return on investment by following DRTV best practices for testing, creative, and media buying.
