Error “maximum Request Length Exceeded†While Migrating From Lotus To Outlook
Nowadays, many organizations are switching from their existing Lotus Notes email client to ever favorite MS Outlook email client. Well this is quite natural as there are so many advantages associated with Outlook. User friendly graphical interface, sober features and distinguished technicalities make Outlook an evergreen email platform.
There are various issues related to Lotus to Outlook email migration. One common error is Maximum request length exceeded. But one should not worry when you have efficient Lotus to Outlook email migration tool available.
In this article we would be discussing about the above mentioned error. This error occurs while migrating a message of above 4 MB size from Lotus Notes to Exchange Server. This error arises while using Microsoft Transporter Suite. Microsoft Transporter Suite is an exclusive service that is used to export mailboxes from Lotus Domino to Exchange Server but sometimes during migration, you receive following error message:
The message was migrated without the attachments. This error might be due to configuration limitations on the server.
Error details: Maximum ...
... request length exceeded.
Reasons behind this error
Usually, the above mentioned error occurs due to default limit in ASP.NET i.e. 4 MB. That means Web services does not migrate attachments that are larger than default limit i.e.4MB unless some additional configuration is made.
Steps to resolve this issue
To resolve this problem, you will need to increase the input stream buffering threshold value. You may also need to increase the execution time-out period. To do this, follow these steps:
1.Start Notepad.
2.Under the following directory, open the Web.config file:
drive:\%PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft\Exchange Server\ClientAccess\exchweb\ews
3.In the Web.config file, add the following line after the tag:
4.After you add this line, the Web.config file section resembles the following section.
It is to be noted that the executionTimeout attribute is in seconds. This attribute indicates the maximum number of seconds that a request can run before ASP.NET automatically stops the request. The maxRequestLength attribute is in kilobytes (KB). Adjust each attribute as appropriate for your environment.
5.Save and then close the Web.config file.
6.Restart the World Wide Web publishing service.
This way you can increase the input stream buffering threshold value. Now you can export the email of 4MB size from Lotus Domino to Exchange Server.
However, Microsoft Transporter Suite is suitable to migrate mailboxes and emails from Lotus Domino to Exchange Server but while migrating you may face various complexities as already mentioned in the article. Therefore, if you want easy and uncomplicated migration from Lotus Notes to Outlook, its far better to use efficient and highly result oriented Lotus to Outlook conversion software. Software converts unlimited Domino Server mailboxes to MS Outlook with much ease and efficacy.
