Outlook Express allows a possible setup to access Yahoo e-mails. The primary requirement is that you must have a POP3 access to the mailbox of Yahoo. However, from March 2004 onwards, this service has been made premium. Irrespective of the account used, Outlook Express e-mails are stored in individual *.dbx files, each for incoming e-mails, outgoing e-mails, and so on. Thus, there are fair chances that Yahoo e-mails may get inaccessible due to corruption of *.dbx files and require Mail Recovery tools.

The further instance illustrates a suitable example supporting the fact. A user sets up Outlook Express for receiving and sending its Yahoo account e-mails. But after some time, he/she experiences that it cannot access the Outlook Express e-mails anymore. Each time when he/she tries to receive an e-mail message through Outlook Express, the following error message displays:

An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error. Number: 0x80004005

The Outlook Express user encounters no issue in sending the e-mails, but receiving ...
... the e-mails.

Cause

Outlook Expres Inbox, Inbox.dbx, is corrupted.

Solution

To isolate the depicted problem, you should first check if you can access e-mails from Inbox. If you can, you need to create a blank DBX folder and move all the readable e-mails from corrupted folder to this new one. You can then delete the corrupted folder. In other cases, sequence of solution is as given below:

1)Close Outlook Express
2)Locate the file named 'Inbox.dbx'. To do this, click 'Start' and then use the 'Find' or 'Search' option to find it.
3)Right-click the file and then delete or rename it.
4)Restart Outlook Express

Note: Deleting the corrupted Inbox is not recommended until a backup is available.

For repairing and extracting e-mails from a completely inaccessible DBX, a third-party DBX Repair Tool is the solution. Designed to perform effective DBX file scanning, these utilities provide a safe recovery option. The Mail Recovery software can be used in any case of *.dbx file corruption, when the file becomes inaccessible, unreadable, or impossible to be opened.

Stellar Phoenix Outlook Express Recovery is an advanced, simple utility that repairs corrupted DBX files of Outlook Express. This DBX Recovery tool incorporates high-end scanning algorithms that take complete care of data integrity. Supporting Outlook Express 5.x and 6.x, the software provides a user-friendly interface that makes it easily operable.
