Hi There,

Are you more or less constantly thinking about your weight, or whether you're eating or not eating?
Do you find that at times when you start eating that you just can't stop yourself? And then when your clothes don't fit do you decide to resolve that by eating more? This makes any consistent weight loss an impossible dream!

Frequently, a result of this behavior, is that you will feel bad about yourself and imagine that everyone is thinking how big you are, thus increasing your anxiety about your eating and image, so that you eat more to out of sheer depression. Thus, the constant merry-go-round of eating and self loathing.

You might not realize it but there are steps you can take to get you out of this self-destructive cycle and turn around the negative feelings that you experience.

When we are in these 'mind-traps' we are habitually repeating habits and acting on them without even realizing where they come from and how they affect us.

Stop and ask yourself: 'What will that do for me?' can often be the beginning of understanding ourselves better and ...
... our behavior. Approaching the problem in this way can be a way to finally ending this destructive attitude.

It works like this: a bad experience gives you the urge to go to the cookie jar or potato chip bag and eat as much junk as you can. But this time, instead of gorging on this crap, ask yourself: 'What will that do for me?'

If the answer is something like 'It gives me a treat,' ask yourself: 'And if I have this treat, what does that do for me?; Again, wait for your answer, it may be something like, 'If I have this treat then I will feel appreciated.' If this is your response carry on and ask yourself: 'If I get to feel appreciated, what does that do for me?' Listen for an answer and keep asking yourself the same question, until you can go no further with your responses. What you're looking for is the higher motivation behind the behavior 'eating too many cookies'. By doing this on a regular basis you will get in touch with what you really want and take your first step to controlling the food cravings.

People that do this never really stop and ask why they are doing it. Is it because they feel inferior, feel people don't like them, people look down on them, they think they are fat anyway, etc. You never put yourself first and realize what is bst for you and to hell with what anybody else thinks. They aren't living your life, you are. If you want to lose weight, then do it.

Chances are, anybody looking down or frowning on your percieved eating habits or being overweight, have thei own demons they are wrestling with. they put you down to make themselves feel above you and above their problems. Enough phsychology, the bottom line is DO IT FOR YOU!!

You have to schedule yourself some alone time to reflect on who you are and what you want. Go take a nice long relaxing bath, do a walk, read a book, talk to friends on the phone. Do whatever makes you feel good about yourself. If you feel good about youself, chances are, you definitely won't want to destrot that with an overload of binge eating. There would be no reason to binge eat, because you won't be depressed. Surround yourself with supportive friends and family and go for it.

If you feel loved then you get to a warm happy place. Anybody that tries to take that away and stop you from workiong on weight loss to better yuorself, is not worth your time and energy. They want to keep you down to make themselves feel better about themselves, when the truth be known, they feel more inferior then you do.

Work on creating ways that you can reward yourself, that has nothing to do with eating. maybe, go to a movie or the zoo. Very soon you will feel good about yourself, feel comfortable and happy, and not have the urge to comfort yourself with food.
