Protecting Your Mobile Phone

Thieves tend to target busy areas like nightclubs and pubs. When you are out in busy areas, keep your phone hidden, avoiding leaving it out on tables and never leaving it unattended. Try to get into the habit of keeping it in your bag or pocket.
When you are out walking in a busy part of town, be aware that pick pockets and thieves operate in busy areas. If you are talking on the phone, look out for suspicious behaviour, and when your phone is not in use, keep it out of sight.
If you are out at night and have to use your mobile phone, try to do so in a well-lit spot as thieves feel more comfortable when they cannot be seen. Thieves also tend to target busy train stations and bus stops, so try to avoid using your phone in these places at night.
Having the details of your make of mobile phone, its model number and its IMEI number can make it easier to trace you phone should it get stolen. Jot down these details somewhere away from your mobile and keep them somewhere safe.
Activating security tools on your mobile phone can help to prevent any unauthorised people from being able to use your handset. Have ...

You should give your mobile provider and the National Mobile Property Register a call and register your details with them. In the event of your phone being stolen, if it is recovered it will then be easier and quicker for the police to return to you.
If your phone is stolen, as quickly as possible you should let both the police know and your mobile service provider as they will be able to block your mobile phone so that it cannot be used.
If you have to leave your mobile phone in your empty car, then try to remember to lock it away in your glove compartment or your car boot, or at the very least, keep it out of sight. You should also switch your phone off so that its ring does not draw the attention of potential thieves.
