After three years of being top of the smart phone market, there''s signs that Apple''s iPhone may have its work cut out this year if it wants to maintain its position as market leader. 2009 was the year when the opposition came out fighting, and it looks like there''s going to be more of the same this year.

Enhanced mobile broadband and the development of smart new operating systems means Apple''s rivals will probably eat into market share this year. If you''re looking to join the smart phone revolution, but you''re considering alternative for the iPhone, then here are three smart phones that you might be interested in.

Blackberry Bold 2 (9700)

The latest installment from the Blackberry Bold line improves on its predecessor with a finer screen resolution, better battery life and WiFi capability. As you''d expect from Blackberry, it''s still very much a business handset, but it''s one of the top of its class.

The new model has a few consumer friendly offerings to go with its business appeal, with advanced multimedia and app usage. It also comes with a 3.2 mega pixel camera, which, although similar ...

Nokia n900

Late 2009 was an exciting time for smart phones, and the Nokia n900 was considered a particularly big launch. It was the only smart phone to use the new Maemo 5 Linux operating system upon its release. The advanced operating system''s performance is enhanced by a quick 600 MHz processor.

The handset weighs 181g, which is quite heavy for a smart phone. However, the n900 does house a 3.5 mega pixel camera and a dual LED 3.5 inch touchscreen. If you''re interested in the Nokia n900, then take a look at Vodafone.

Motorola Milestone

It''s not all about how good your phone looks anymore ? the operating system has become very important. While Microsoft dominates the home computer market, Google made a splash in 2009 with the introduction of its Android operating system on the Motorola Milestone.

The Milestone has great hardware to go with its next gen OS as well. It has a 3.7 inch touch screen, QWERTY keyboard, 5 megapixel camera, WiFi 3G and a fast 600 MHz processor. Mobile phone enthusiasts have also been happy to point out the handsets long lasting battery life.
