The thriving Mexico Real Estatearea in the state of Quintana Roo - the north of this state includes Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and Tulum - is beginning to see opportunities develop in the south of the state, especially in an area known as the Costa Maya, which so far has received less attention. The current promise of healthy growth in the Tulum Real Estate market, about 45 minutes away from the Playa del Carmen Real Estate area, is opening up areas to the south of this town, which marks the end of the famous Riviera Maya. The town traces its roots to a pre-Spanish Mayan community, and was established as a Spanish town in 1545, making it one of the oldest continually inhabited communities in the area. There is also a fortress, built in 1729 to protect against Caribbean pirates.

Bacalar is home to an important national boating event that takes place in August and is currently a 25-year tradition. The area is a favorite especially for those who love boating and ocean activities. Bacalar has also become home to numerous resorts and has a well developed and growing tourist infrastructure, making for easy access to enjoying the area\'s resources. The current projects in the Bacalar region are focused on making it unique in the Mexican Caribbean as a destination with both historical and ecological attractions, aimed at preserving them while making them available for residents to enjoy.

The growth of the thriving real estate markets in first Cancun, followed by Cozumel and Playa del Carmen, and most recently Tulum show the strength that the Mexico real estate has on the Caribbean coast.
