All the medigap insurance plans are administered by non governmental bodies and government has no part in this issue of insurance policies. Unlike Medicare original plan it is handled by private companies and sold by them. It is designed only to supplement the original Medicare plan and maximize the benefits got after a Medicare original plan. That is why this plan is being called Medicare supplemental health insurance plan. It is also famous in the name of medigap insurance for health. The name ‘medigap' simply imply its purpose and the purpose is bridging up the gap between the applicant's actual expenditure and the money you get from your health insurance plan. It is very difficult to cope up with the problem which you will face this. In its form it is similar to coinsurance and deductibles insurance.

Though it is governed by private companies medigap insurance is ruled by some pre determined rules and regulations. These rules are being set by the common authority and can not be altered by any singular company according to its private or individual interest or profit. All the advantages and benefits recorded ...
... under same scheme or plan are always will be same irrespective of the companies from which the medigap health insurance is being issued. Another very important thing that should be remembered always is that you have an option to supplement or support your original Medicare plan. So you better understand that medigap can not be done without having an original Medicare plan before. You need to be the beneficiary of an Original Medicare plan Part A and B in order to get enrolled for a Medigap policy. Medigap policies cannot be sold independently. There are only 12 supplementary plans labeled A through L. All these plans have there separate policy coverage but the plans under the same letter cover must provide the same benefits. It means that no matter from which company you have bought the policy, they must provide the same coverage as provided by the other companies, nothing more or nothing less.

Almost all of the Medicare Supplement Plans provide the basic benefits of plan A and in addition to that they have their additional benefits. Therefore before choosing a plan for yourself you need to be very careful so that you may choose the right one for yourself and not loose the deal. Therefore seeking the help of an insurance agent can be the most fruitful as they are more aware of the policy details and the rates of different companies. Moreover it should be remembered that though the companies are bound to provide the same benefits under the same letter cover, but they have the freedom of fixing their rates. And the premium rates for the same plan may differ for different companies. Therefore it is duly recommended to read the offer documents carefully as well as compare the premium rates for different companies before investing. The fact is that the insurance company must keep renewing the Medicare supplement plans once you buy a Medigap plan for yourself.
