Reading out loud to your child or grandchild is probably one of the most important things you can do for them. Reading Christian kid's stories to your children can help instill Christian values and encourage integrity while they are young. There are many great kid's books written from a Christian point of view that can help you teach your child the values you want them to have while you are reading to them.

It is important to start reading to your children when they are very young. Research has shown that children who are read to when they are small are more successful in school. Being read to builds a child's listening skills, encourages a love of books and enhances their reading skills as well as their vocabulary. Reading to your child promotes bonding and lets the child know that they are important to you. Taking time to talk with your child after you finish reading your story teaches them that they can talk to you and you are interested in what they have to say. If you can make a habit of talking with your child every day, it may help keep the lines of communication open as he grows.

Words are so powerful, so look for Christian kid's stories that are filled with positive, encouraging words that will help to build self worth and empower children to make positive choices. Books can also be used to alleviate fears that your child has or help prepare them for changes that are coming, such as learning to use the potty, going to school or moving to a new home.
